Swimming

We attended swimming lessons for 1 week during the term. The kids absolutely love swimming! They are taught by qualified swimming instructors. Swimming lessons are very important for all children - they help to equip our kids with the knowledge and skills needed if a situation around water ever arose.

A huge thank you to all the parents who helped out during swimming week - it is an exhausting but rewarding week.

Athletics day!

Room 5 did so well in our school athletics day! Everyone tried their very best and had lots of fun supporting their friends!

Little visitor

We had a nice surprise when Josh bought his pet Guinea Pig in for News one morning.

It is great for the kids to be able to learn how to treat a small animal, as many don't have pets at home. The kids has lots of questions for Josh about Jack (the guinea pig) and it was nice for him to be able to teach them something new.

Thank you to Josh and his Mum for giving Room 5 this wonderful experience!

Creating things

These boys are constantly creating things out of blocks, mechano, dominoes - anything they find laying around! They were particularly proud of these things they built. Well done for being so creative!

Term 1, Weeks 1-5

Valentines Day Activities

Room 5 made beautiful heart shaped photo frames that were supposed to be gifted to their parents for Valentines Day. However, they didn't dry in time so now they are hanging on the wall in the classroom with each child's picture inside. Have a look at your child's fantastic photo frame next time you are in class!

Various things we have been up to during the day

We have been learning many different activities and games throughout our first few weeks in Room 5. We have been learning and practising how to work independently, with a partner and as a group. This has, at times been challenging but also rewarding and we have successfully accomplished many different tasks. See below how much fun we have been having!

Buddy Reading with Room 7

We have also been doing Buddy Reading with Room 7 every Friday! See how awesome our buddies are:

Every week we also participate in Soccer! Room 5 loves Soccer and as a teacher it is fantastic to see them fully engaged and excited to participate in a team sport. Great work guys!

Congratulations to those who have been fortunate enough to take Hedgy home for the weekend, she (or he) loves to spend the weekend with those lucky children and she (or he) gets to have the most amazing weekends! Well done to those children so far for taking such great care of Hedgy.

Check back every week for some awesome blog entries letting you know what we have been up to during the week :)

Meet Room 5's class pets!

Room 5's Axolotls - Meet Axy and Milo!

Axy and Milo were a few weeks old when I adopted them in early 2014. Axy was the size of my index finger!!

Now they are 30cm long and we have decided through google research that Axy is a girl and Milo is a boy. When they are 18 months old, axolotls start to breed... They lay eggs on the plants which need to be removed immediately from the tank! So keep an eye out whenever you are in Room 5! Axolotls are very interesting and amazing creatures, ask your child to tell you an axolotl fact they have learnt so far!
